How to Factory Reset Purple Cow Internet Equipment

Last reviewed 2026-05-11

A factory reset should be a last resort because it can erase saved Wi-Fi settings and force you to set up the network again from scratch.

Before You Start

  • Try a normal restart first, because a restart is safer and doesn't erase your Wi-Fi settings.
  • Write down your current Wi-Fi name and password before you reset anything.

Steps

  1. Only use a factory reset when support or the setup guide says it is the right next step.
  2. Press and hold the reset button or reset pin long enough for the equipment to reset. Wave 1 fibre source material uses 10+ seconds as the Nokia reset reference.
  3. Wait for the equipment to restart fully before reconnecting to it.
  4. Set up the Wi-Fi again in the app or device settings, because a factory reset can restore default network details.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a restart and a factory reset?
A restart simply powers the equipment off and back on, while a factory reset clears saved settings and starts fresh.
Will a factory reset erase my Wi-Fi name and password?
Yes. A factory reset can return the equipment to default Wi-Fi settings, so you may need to set the network up again.
