How to Use Purple Cow Home Phone Star Codes

Last reviewed 2026-05-11

Star codes let you manage common Home Phone features quickly from the handset without needing a separate app or portal.

Before You Start

  • Use the star code from the phone connected to your Purple Cow ATA, not from a mobile phone.
  • If a code uses a +, be ready to enter the phone number or extra digits right after the code.

Steps

  1. Dial the star code for the feature you want to use, such as *98 for voicemail, *69 for last call return, *72+ to forward all calls, or *67+ to block caller ID for the next call.
  2. Wait for the feature to confirm if your handset provides a tone or prompt.
  3. Place a quick test call if you changed forwarding, caller ID, or another live call feature.
  4. If the code doesn't work, restart the ATA once and try again. If things still aren't behaving, reach out and we'll help from there.
